If Flanders were shooting with us he would make us all look silly. He shoots in almost total darkness at forty below and does well. ;)

A bit breezy this morning, looks like the trees are swapping holes and one mite want landing gear on their chapeau this morning.

We have some pretty miserable conditions upon us this AM.  Temps are in the single digits with winds around 20 mph, wind chill is currently -7.  Temps are supposed to climb into the teens as the day progresses but winds will be 20mph and over through 2PM with wind chills between -10 and 2 degrees.

Do we grin and bear it?  I can get over to MWSA quite easily so no problem getting there.

There will be no need to artificially make targets more difficult, the wind is going to take care of that!

I was up at 4 a.m. to reload the woodstove and the wind was fierce. Now, at a bit after 7 the temp is +5 and the wind has died to a steady 10 mph or so. Austin e-mailed me last night saying we can leave the BTFE's at home as there will be no need for them :D

The 2009 New Years Day Parker Fun Shoot is in the history books.  Shooters who came to the Major Waldron's Sportsmans Association in Barrington NH were faced with single digit temps accompanied by 20mph winds and gusts that were extremely strong.  Targets were challenging to say the least.

Attendees;  Pete Lester, Scott Kittredge, Bob Fabian, Robin Lewis, John Dunkle, Mr. & Mrs. Austin Hogan, Bill Janelle, Rick Weik, Dave & Danny Suponski and Dean Romig as seen below impersonating a Tibetan Monk inspecting Dunkle's 1899 20ga D grade Damascus "Shogun".  (Dunkle didn't miss every skeet target on his second round of skeet but he came close! Sorry John it is funny, sorta of a form over function thing).

The "competition" consisted of 25 Modern Skeet, 25 Traditional Skeet, and 50 Sixteen yard singles targets resulted in Scott Kittredge with the High Overall of 74 with myself in 2nd with a 68.  The scores of other attendees remain confidential to protect the innocent :D (Seriously, the unpredictable and strong gusts of wind had many targets scraping the grass, heading to the moon, and bouncing up and down as they flew, leaving heads shaking, onlookers laughing and shooters muttering).

"

An early in the day picture of "The Rack",  We didn't count the Parkers but I bet it was 35 to 40 guns here today, from AA's to Trojans.

"

Names should probably not be provided as some are believed to be in the federal witness protection program. L to R - Robin Lewis, Mrs. Hogan, Dave Suponski, Dean Romig, Bill Janelle, Rick Weik. (Yes Dave that's a AAHE (seconds later he drooled on it), Dean scored well today considering he used the same hold on the field :D).

"

I had the absolute privilege of shooting a round of trap with John's Great Grandfather's AAHE.  It only looks like I am shooting like my hair was on fire, my score said otherwise.

Special guest Lou Ferrigno as the Hulk shooting skeet (Actually it's Bob Fabian and it's just the clothes that make him look BIG :D.) Bob has sensitive skin and he was using some protection to keep from burning his left hand on the barrels today.

"

Scott Kittredge, the champ is providing pointers and demonstrating his technique after the main event to a spellbound and hypothermic crowd. (I think he is shooting the "Shogun" which I believe was for sale and heavily discounted following John's 2nd round performance on the skeet field).
"
In spite of the weather it was day of great guns and nice people.  Thanks to all of you who helped make it happen!!!!

PS. After I got this posted I turned on the TV and the History Channel was showing a repeat of Ice Road Truckers.  They got nothing on us today, nothing!!!

Maybe you can tell it was windy and cold by watching the snow blow?
