Bob`s Gun shop has a nice 410 VHE with 26 in bbls. Did not give further info besides the $42000 price. http://www.bobsvintageguns.com/Shot_Guns/SG_14/Pic14_1.html

Holy cow!! When I came home from Vietnam in August of 1966 the local gun shop had a V grade .410 that they wanted $700 for and we all thought they were nuts!! How times change. The gun sold the same month and the guy who bought it was the owner of a carnival that traveled all over so maybe he knew something the locals did not.I remember at the same time that the Shotgun News advertised A1s for $3500. I was making $100. a month as a Marine pfc.

Robert,
Welcome home! Look at your Social Security statement for the year in Viet Nam. I think I made about $1,500 in 1968 and that was with combat pay.

Yeah, I got home with $800 that I had saved and wanted to buy some guns as I had found a copy of the American Rifleman in a "foxhole" and had a subscription to the "Shotgun News".Found a nice Sharps 1874 sporting rifle but my girlfriend wanted to get engaged so I compromised and bought a ring and a Model 12 trap gun from the 1930's.
Getting back to the .410. The old guy that bought it lived around here when he retired from the carnival business. He died several years ago but noone has heard anything about any of his considerable estate ever being put up for sale.No one is even living in his house but the grounds are kept up.Makes me wonder.....

Angel,
If the VHE 410 at Bobs is the same one I'm thinking of I have seen that gun for sale at the Upper pennisula SXS shoot about 5 years ago for $25K. The side of the receiver is freckeled from being kept in a case .
I just missed a VHE skeet last year at Steve Barnet's by one phone call. I believe asking price was very close to $30K.
A .410 skeet gun is my new Holy Grail of Parkers...my other Holy Grail has been obtained .

Yeah Rich, what is it? Is that why you're sacrificing that combo trap/skeet gun??

Rich,
That .410 is not the same one. I was in there a month ago and I saw it - beautiful with no pitting nor does it show much wear. I ask the guy behing the counter to see the gun and he handed it to me - told me it was $5K. I ask if he would take a check, and then he called Bob. So close...
I have also seen that other .410 that has been sitting in a case so long one side is pitted. This is not the same gun.
Jay

The BHE 0000 Frame .410 Repro at Chaddicks is probably as cheap as we'll ever see one again. This would be a good buy. It's probably the one I ordered back in 1988 and received a Dear John letter instead of the gun.

And "the prettiest little Parker I have ever owned" seems to be an expression he favors and uses often. The last 0000 frame .410 Repro I remember him putting up for sale was almost five years ago and if memory serves me as well as I hope, he was asking something like $19.5k and I agree with Bill's assessment.

I'll sacrifice the skeet/trap combo simply because I don't use it. I'm not a big 12GA person and I have two already, a DHE vent rib trap and a GHE skeet so I really don't need or want another 12.
My previous Holy Grail of Parkerdom was to find a 20GA skeet gun and I have found two. A 90% VHE and a very nice GHE with 28 inch bbls . Therefor I'm off to the Next Holy Grail.....then the next one ......then the one after that....then well you get the idea.

Has it yet been determined if the 000-frame .410 Repro is dimentionally different from the 0000-frame .410 Repro? I remember there being some discussion of this on an earlier thread.

I have measurements of 0000 and 000 pin separation in my notes somewhere. The frame configuration is different, but I believe the pin separation is the same. I am working from memory, not my actual measurements.
