But what would those poor folks do with them ol' hats? Have a little pity Eric :P

If you wash them Carhartt's it wears them out. If they get too rough I just hang them outside and let it rain on them a time or two. That pair is 15 years old and going strong.

Destry;

It is definately time for a new pair of bibs. Most outlets that handle Carharts have them on sale at this time of the year. Try Swan's out in Howell, Mi. They have big sizes cause I don't exactly wear John Davis size myself and I can find goods to fit my slender willowy frame at Swans.

Purchase your Carharts now and but the time hunting season rolls around you will be able to dirty them up to the proper auora so the game, ie squirrels don't run the other way from over used and under cleaned (odorous) like they did this last fall.

While you are at Swans check out their large array of hunting hats.

I'll be sure to wear cap and bibs to duck dinner on Thursday.

Dixie won't let you in the house in that attire!!

You must attire yourself in the same manner as in the photo taken in the hall of that gentlemens hunting/shooting club. Most of us had a hard time figureing out who it was, in truth you did come through quite well in the photo.

Do not forget your sport coats and neck ties when you are packing for The Southern SXS and the Vintager Dinner.  We are planning on a great dinner and good fellowship on Friday night at The Flame Steak House.  Jent

Sorry I won't be able to attend, since I am not taking a suit coat or tie down with me so I guess I just got excluded :X. I think it was much nicer when it was an informal gathering of folks and I know half a dozen or more that feel the same way. Guess we'll have to eat somewhere else. Eric

Eric, we can eat at the same place. I think the Flame is large enough for two groups.;)

Those with ties and those with T-shirts.

The Flame is a full service family restaurant with no strict dress code.  Those who would choose to eat there won't be turned away if they don't meet the Virginia Vintager's dress code.  Of course, we could send a couple of bottles of nice Cabernet over to Jent's table to let him know there are no hard feelings about his disdain for Carhartt formal wear.

And a nicely pressed set of Carhartt bibs, even with a few tobacco stains, would preclude the discomfort of a starched linen napkin tucked into the neck of your favorite T-shirt :P

I just went today and had a set of suspender buttons put on my new linen summer shooting pants. I like to look good, sometimes.....

But I ain't dragging a dinner jacket down there just to eat at The Flame. Roger and I will barely have enough room what with all the guns and my hat box.

Tell Roger to do me a favor and toss that damn hat box out somewhere in W. Virginia:cool: And as always you and Roger are welcome anytime at our table... We maybe outcasts in some crowds but we sure can have fun... Eric

Destry, I assume your normal Vintager dress (well, not really a dress) will meet Jent's criteria.  However, you will have to sit across the room from your travelling companions.  One year, Linda and I sat across the room from a group of my regular shooting and check writing companions at the Flame.  Boy, were we glad we sat where we did.

I'll do my eating and drinking with my normal crew. If anybody else wants to actually have fun they can come join us. Hickerson will be at our table you know!

Destry, I bought me one of those fancy hats off E-bay. It even came in a hat box, should I bring it? ;)

Well of course, everybody should wear a good hat when shooting. Be sure and bring the box so I can look it over for official approval.

There is an old saying around the trap and skeet clubs in my area and probably in other areas as well, beware of the coot in bib overalls and a T shirt that shoots the same old beat up rickety old gun as he will lighten up your hip. Hence, I have respect for bib overalls and do ware them quite often with a T shirt on occasion. Also they are comfortable.

Destry bibs can ride in my car but that smelly hat is a no no.
