Al, this may be the best gun we have seen on this site for awhile, especially a new find.  It appears to be a Grade 1 because it has way too much engraving for a Grade 0 and a Grade 2 should have Damascus barrels.  Any addition to your picture file would be appreciated.   The serial number does not appear in the serialization book, so a T1 lifter may appear in the missing stock book #5 if it is ever found.  However, your gun is probably in order book #4 which is available to the PGCA researcher.  Research into the Serialization Book won't tell us much because the guns in your serial number range are included in missing stock books.  The Serialization Book was compiled from the stock books, not the order books.  No Twist Steel lifter 16 gauge guns in Grade 1 are mentioned.  Are you sure your gun is not a 14 gauge?   14 gauge Twist Steel Grade 1 lifters are  mentioned, but they are lower numbers than yours.  It is likely that 16 gauge guns would be included in the next stock books, the important one of which is, in fact, missing.  The PGCA letter would tell the tale.

Probably the highest condition 16 gauge lifter in the world, and maybe the only Grade 1 16 gauge lifter.  Al, are you a Parker collector?  Please don't tell me that this is your first Parker.  This gun is the find of the century.  Come on, guys, tell me what you think.  Don't leave me hanging with my outrageous opinion.

Frank great job on the photo's the originals were difficult to make out.

Bill, I'm a little surprised at your excitement even thought I agree it's a very nice gun. I guess I didn't realize how scarce these guns are. Twice this year I looked at what was represented as a P grade 16 gage under-lifter on an O frame and passed because of the pitted Twist barrels. I guess it might be worth another look. Larry

I'm with you Bill, an excellent find.  Now, when Al gets his research letter and discovers that someone like Doc Carver ordered the gun we'll really be doing back flips.

Larry, most of my Parkers don't look like most of your Parkers, so I am not surprised that you are "surprised at my excitement".  Are you sure this is not the gun you have been looking at?  There aren't a bunch of them out there.  Even though the stock books would indicate there is more chance of this being a 14 gauge than a 16, I would assume that a 14 gauge would not be on a 0 frame with lightening cuts.  Al, you should waste no time applying for a PGCA letter on this important gun.  The order books could even give information on the original purchaser as well as the exact configuration of the gun, gauge and all.  Some examples of information included in some order book entries are name and address of original purchaser, price, barrel length and type of steel, stock dimensions, desired weight of the gun, chamber length, trigger pull weight, pattern desired, accessories ordered with gun, you name it.  Or maybe just the serial number and price.  Whatever you find out, it will be worth the price of the letter.

Al ... The order form to get a Parler Letter for your gun is on the Home Page of the PGCA website ... Just print the form,  fill in the requested information,  and mail it with a check for 40 bucks if you're a PGCA member.

Your 16 ga, SN 13011 is almost identical to my 20 ga Lifter Gun SN 10165 except that my 20 ga. has no checkering at all ... It has a skeliton butt plate, and the early style cross-bar forarm latch ... I'd be willing to bet that both guns share the same frame size because both guns have the same lightening slots milled into the water table.

Congratulations, you bought a nice gun ! ... It's is really nice condition and chances are pretty good that your barrels are in good enough condition for the gun to be shootable with LIGHT LOADS.

Jim Kucaba ... Phoenix, AriZOOna ... Email: JimKucana@aol.com

Hey, James, can we see a scan of your PGCA letter on #10165?  If not, tell us about it.  We would also like to see pictures of the gun.  OH, John D. already said that.  John, how many of these little guns can we shoot?

Mr. Murphy:

Sorry to ruin your day - this is the first Parker I have ever owned, although I have owned five Lefevers-wonderful guns- does that count?

This gun is definitely a 16 - I checked it with a shell.

Al
