Karl just to be clear is this her first time shooting a shotgun or first time shooting a side x side? If first time shooting a shotgun, I like to start kids off with 20-gauge semi-auto preferably a gas gun like a Remington or Berreta for reduced recoil and to give them enough shot payload that they hit enough to build confidence. If she has already been shooting for a while and this is her first time shooting a side x side, then what Stan and Bill said. My oldest and youngest daughters are no slouches with their shotguns, and I will tell you that doing something about fit helped not only with their scores but with felt recoil.
