Actually, he is from R.L.
I have been hunting with 3 guys 3-4 days a year for the last 12 years, in the same area. Till I got my dog, we always seems to struggle and made it dusk to dawn event. For the last 3-4 years, with my dog, we are usually done by lunch. I would not have it any other way but pointing dog which loves independence with big drive. Small dog (~38lbs) with big heart:

This is Hudson with yesterday's hunt, an English Lab, smaller, stocky and tough as they come. She's good for about 2 hours then done, there's no stopping in those two hours either and as said before it's a "lab point" better have the safety off and be shouldered to shoot.

Robert: Great picture. Makes a guy want to be there.
Gentlemen all: I just noticed that this thread has risen rapidly with only 5 others ahead of it when it comes to replies. Got me thinking. A newcomer would think there is something pretty special about the subject gun. Once into it, one realizes it is all about the dogs.
do you think it a good idea to start a Dogs of the PGCA thread?
That would be a clear label rather than a Julia auction gun that became a dog thread.
If someone starts that thread, I'll know the answer.
Cheers,
Jack

Good idea, Jack. I was thinking the same thing.
One thing that really struck me about this thread was the number of non-pure blood dogs and rescued dogs that were mentioned. My wife thinks I am a dog-snob, and she is pretty much right. I have a thing for classic big setters with blocky heads that belong in an Osthuaus painting. That being said, I have a soft spot for any loyal canine that posesses a good soul, which is true of most dogs.
