Don, even if I'd had money at the time, the guy selling the gun probably wanted some ridiculous price like $600.00 for it. With the non original wood, I probably would have passed it up. I think I remember who was selling it, may see him this weekend. I'll ask him to whom he sold it. Whoever it was, the yellow maple is probably holding a door open in his workshop. I may end up with it yet.

I thought Littlejohn's website might have a link to the realized prices and catalog, but I have never succeeded in finding it. My friend who did the show and tell for me last week apparently just missed the 28 Parker A1. He bid on both gold 28 gauge guns and succeeded on the Purdey so that should give you a clue about the price of the Parker.

Called Little John's this afternoon and was told that they plan to post the latest auction results on their website in the near future, did not say he was, but planned to. When I asked about the Parker A1 Special prices, he said he did not recall. I don't understand why these results are such a secret.

They may post the realized prices, but you probably have to have a catalog to interpret the prices. I can fly to the left coast cheaper than I can purchase Littlejohn catalogs. My solution would be to visit my buddy, read catalogs, drink whiskey, and look at gold Purdeys, all for free. Last edited on Wed Feb 15th, 2006 08:49 pm by Bill Murphy

Bill,
If you buy a gun at LJ's auction they send you catalogs for free. That's more than I can say for any other firearms auction house. Time to open up that pocket book! :-)
All the best!
Josh

According to Little John's ad in the Beinfield show magazine, Lot #67 the Parker A-1 Special 28-gauge two-barrel set sold for $112,000. All prices include a 12% buyers premium.

That was the only Parker Bros. price given in Little John's ad. Now it is time to start discussing those high-grade/upgrade Parker Bros and Ansley H. Fox doubles surfacing for the upcoming Julia's auction!!

I just reread this whole interesting thread. I notice that Tony still has the Skouras .410 Purdey vent rib gun for sale. My friend is still shooting its 28 gauge mate, but I don't know who bought the Skouras Parkers. The Purdeys are screaming shooting guns with short stocks and vent ribs making them great field guns. We don't want those heat waves rising up to obscure our view of the quail.
