I first used the Griffin and Howe repro Silver pads on an AHE Trap in 1986. In 39 years, it has aged beautifully without help. I installed an original Ithaca pad on a 1930s single trap just a year ago. It looks beautiful also.

Just keep them wiped down with your favorate gun oil. And use the gun from time to time. It will look good.

I think I have used dirty crankcase oil on a few new pads. As I said in my last post, doing nothing doesn't work too bad either.

Frank Srebro advised me some years ago to try French Polish on a newly ground Silvers pad. i did so and was amazed at the results. No dirty motor oil for me. French Polish all the way.
