Age new butpads
Fitted new pads to my NID super Ten pair with Ithaca reproductions. How can I age them.Regards,Grayson

Smudge some soot onto them with your finger. Not too much, just a little until you like the look.
|
Rub them with a dab of used motor oil.
|
Take them hunting!
|
Used some Old West Snake oil on them.Use it on my Colt SAA and Winchesters .Might take a couple more coats.Yes they will be used on tall birds and specks late in the season.Thank you for the suggestions.GW

I first used the Griffin and Howe repro Silver pads on an AHE Trap in 1986. In 39 years, it has aged beautifully without help. I installed an original Ithaca pad on a 1930s single trap just a year ago. It looks beautiful also.

Just keep them wiped down with your favorate gun oil. And use the gun from time to time. It will look good.

I think I have used dirty crankcase oil on a few new pads. As I said in my last post, doing nothing doesn't work too bad either.

Off topic trying a new wood finish on a Grade 2 LC.Pro Custom Oil.On the 4 coat like it so far.Used Timber lux which I still use, will let you all after I finish still filling pores.Pipeliner

Frank Srebro advised me some years ago to try French Polish on a newly ground Silvers pad. i did so and was amazed at the results. No dirty motor oil for me. French Polish all the way.
