If you can get it much below 10k you really have to choose your components carefully. It's just not a low pressure gauge. My loads are between 10-11k and I've been shooting them out of a OO frame Parker for 40+ years.

That's the reason I never purchased any vintage 28 for serious shooting, even though it is one of my two favorite gauges.

Don't let that scare you off Arthur. Parker did develop the 28ga if I remember correctly and it's always been a high pressure load so go ahead and pull the trigger. You'll love the gauge.
