markings on water table of1887 parker bros shotgun

Default markings on water table of1887 parker bros shotgun

On the water table of parker bros. shotgun serial #51304 is these marking. I don't know what they mean.If any one know I would welcom the help. The marking or as followed. A t with half cresent top and bottom, a letter c over the #4.Any help would be greatly welcome. Richaard Tucker

A t with the crescents usually means "twist" steel in the barrels. The c over the 4 is the normal grade markings of a "C" grade which is also a grade "4". However, a C grade does not usually carry twist barrels; therefore, I think you are misreading a poorly stamped barrel weight stamp which probably means 4 pounds, 6 (not c) ounces. If the "c" is on the upper right hand corner of the 4, I am correct.

Are we talking stamps on the watertable or the barrel flats?

Have you looked at the "Technical Information" page (click on that on the left side of the www.parkerguns.org main page), about the third section down. Click on the pictures and they enlarge and show you where to look for what kind of stamps. That may help you understand the markings?

Ihave checked the c agian. It is on top left side of the four. Ihave sent pictures to parker bros historian and the thing that is could be benard steel, Idon't think so.richard tucker
