Sounds like a sticky TRIP PIN, (part # 20 in the tech section). You shouldn't hear it snap into place, it should move up smoothly as the locking bolt retracts. Time for a clean and lube.

you hit it on the head!!! my trojan did the same thing and it was dirty, cleaned it up works fine now, scott
