Years ago I sent a Single Trigger gun up to Dan at Miller single Trigger ,when I got the gun back ,Happy to say the trigger Worked Flawlessly ! But what I was the most pleased about was they wiped the gun down before shipping it back with the most Pleasing smelling oil ! It wasn't called whatever we had at home growing up but as soon as I put the gun to my cheek I was 12 years old again and Home on the Farm cleaning the guns after hunting with Dad's Beagle , I don't remember what that oil was called ! I called Dan right away and ask what kind of oil they used and he said " G 96 " ! So with that said I use G 96 on my Barrels and Action and then wipe a very small amount on my wood ! When I purchase a " New Parker " ,I always give the initial cleaning with Ballistol !

Default oil

I have used Rig for over 40 years on all parts of my guns including the bores after cleaning. I have never had any rust issues or have to worry about gun oil seeping into the wood.

Well, I just ordered a can of Ballistol, so we'll see how it goes. Thank you all for your input!

Default same thing

I use the same combo. Although I do have a tin of Penn real grease I use on the joints on guns that get hunted.

Steve, unless you ordered the aerosol can of Ballistol you'll need to have an empty, and clean, spray bottle.

For many years I have used Pre-Serv Gun Oil. It is good for metal, wood and even leather. I live in a very humid coastal climate area and have never had any rust issues. I have wiped guns down with it, placed in my safe and two years later they are the same as the day I put them in the safe. Sorry to say I don’t think it is made anymore. It was manufactured by a company in Woodbury CT. Fortunately I purchased a good enough supply to last me for the rest of my life!
