I have dove and quail and even shot skeet with lots of old timers who are in the habbit of walking with their shotgun resting on the toe of their boot.

Even knew one gentleman who had washers on the toes of his hunting boots so that the barrel would rest on his foot and not move.

Doesn't sound particularly safe, but to my knowledge, none of these gentlemen ever blew off their foot.

You see many trapshooters resting their muzzles on top of their foot between shots. They make leather or pastic fobs for this. Difference is that the gun is open when doing so. Of course there are always some who are the super experts on gun safety who say it's dangerous.
