I had these loads tested , http://www.16ga.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=16251 They are both nice mild Low pressure loads . They patterm well in my guns and are clean shooting . I like the one with the Fed 209a primer a little better . The 3/4 oz loads Harold posted are nice loads . I have used them quite a bit for target practice , and can't tell any difference in my scores between them and the 7/8oz loads. and they save some on expensive lead. There is a nice PB 1oz LP load on the Hodgdon site in the Fed hull using CCI and Win 209 primers . I cut the hull down to 2 9/16 and it fits fine . It makes a nice heavy low pressure hunting load for my Damascus guns. The Red dot load post early is more than likely not low pressure if that is what you are looking for . Shotshells don,t show signs of pressure like metallic cartridges do . Hope this helps . |

You may, or may not, be correct here. But that's beside the point. I ought to have Armbrust test my Red Dot load to be sure of things. But I'm willing to bet that it's very close to the stats on your 14 gr Green Dot load, however...

I do have some Red Dot data for a 7/8oz load in the Rem hull using 13.3 gr RD and pressure is around 11300 psi . In a straight walled hull and using 3/4 oz pressures should be a lot lower , I don't think it will be below 6000 psi . but I have been wrong before . Ask Tom he should be able to give you close to what it will be. |

In sub 12 gauge loads, Red Dot is unacceptable for "low pressure" loads, even if the shot load is light. I recommend that those who are making their own loads study the "burn rate" chart before they make up loads. Red Dot is for big holes, light shot loads, and strong guns.
