Ron:  Here's a thought.  Stop talking with yourself.;)  Consider this forum as "family".  We have seen some images and it is obvious the pleasure we have gained, albeit in cyberspace.  So there is pleasure generated by the gun just through a whole bunch of zeros and ones aligned into millions of pixels of information posted here.  If you hunt or shoot clays, enjoy your gun.  Imagine the next time the triggers are pulled there is a real bang rather than a muffled little click.  Imagine cleaning it up after a day in the field.  Imagine dropping a rooster or quail, a chukar or hun, a sharptail or an elusive roughie.  Imagine sharing a day like that with a good friend who never connected all day because he was drooling over your gun. And then stop imagining.  Take the Nike approach and just do it.  Once done, you won't stop I'm betting.

Cheers,
Jack

Jack,

I Like Your Attitude,I'm Sure You Would Be A Great Companion In The Field.......Do You Like Single Malt ? No Matter ,I'll Finish Yours.     I've Not Shot Birds In Years,I Might Have To Plant A Small Dove Field This Year And Have A Few Guns Come TO My Place. It Would Be A Long Ride To Georgia, But You Would Be Welcome.

Jack I'm with you on the shoot em now theory. I have a couple of "benchmark" guns that when I'm gone there will be a little lees bench and a little more mark to them but I will have enjoyed them.

I'm fortunate to have a VHE 28 skeet with 28 inch bbls that is a joy to be in the woods with. The Grouse don't enjoy it as much as I do;).

Ron,
If you have names of the previous owners you might want to check with Del Grego, as the case colors on your VH-28ga suggest it may have passed through their shop at some time in it's recent history...

Best, Chris

Ron,

You should really consider coming to the Southern SxS shoot in Sanford, NC the last weekend in April.  You would get to meet a very large number of Parkerphiles and many more Parker guns.

Ron:  Did you catch this discussion?  I share and could never insult a host by having him finish a poured and served single malt.  Just a drop of water please. :)

Our daughters have a childhood friend, whose parents lived briefly in Canada.  This young lady completed her education and is a forensic scientist with the GBI.  Small world we live in.

Jack

Carl,

Thank You For The Invitation ! I'm Scheduled To Have Shoulder Surgery The Second Week Of April And Have Been Told Not To Drive For Three To Four Weeks Afterward. D'ont Know If I'm Agreeable With That ! Sounds Like Doctor Crap To Me. Why Can I Not Drive With My Left Arm ? Might Just Postpone And Come To N. C.

Ron,

Where abouts are you in Georgia?  There are alot of folks from Georgia that go to the Southern.  There's nothing wrong with a new friend to share the ride with.

I looked at Ron's 28 VH today.  I own now and have owned DelGrego completely redone guns.  The case colors on his gun are very different than the colors of the DelGrego family.  I owned for a short while the stolen 16 ga single trigger VHE parker that was a transition gun from Meridian to Illion. This gun was discussed in great detail back in November.  The real owner got his gun back and I was lucky and got my money back.   The case colors under the forend were similar to Ron's VH 28 gauge.  The true Parker experts need to look at Ron's gun to verify that its an almost unused original gun.  The pictures do not do justice to the true condition of this gun.

Can we hear some more about the live bird gun and "Frank Snow"?  We would like the serial number also just for grins.

Ron, 32 years ago I passed up a beautiful little Parker 28 VHE at a Cottage Grove Mn. gun show.  If I remember they were asking somewhere in the $2000--$2500. That little gun haunts me to this day. If I had purchased that 28, I would have shot the hell out of it. That gun is meant to shoot as are they all no matter how classy or rare.  Take it out and enjoy it in the light of day.  Sorry about the sermon, you did very well. Jim

James, 49 years ago, two fifteen year old boys met on a Maryland skeet field and discussed a trade involving a Savage 99 and a 28 gauge VH Parker.   The trade was consummated.  I wonder if my friend still has that Savage?

I wonder how much buying power $2000--$2500  had 32 years ago. My guess you could buy a descent brand new car for $10K....

As I recall, prices doubled between 1972 and 1978 because of the stagflation set on by the first oil crisis in 73-74.  A brand new VW beetle cost me $1845 cash out the door in October,  1970, and a brand new Corvette cost $5800 in May, 1972.  I think I paid that same $5800 for a new Audi Fox in 1978--an economy car.  Wonder what that 28 ga would have gone for in 72--less than a grand, I'm guessing.
