Bob your in Holland not far from Dave Miles in Muskegon and I work in Grand rapids on Fridays. I'm sure someone can look over your Parker. We get together and shoot often and your welcome to join us.
Bruce there are lots of trout streams in the Channing area. Brookies and Browns mostly .

Bob - Was the 3" shell you inserted fired, or unfired? Remember that the 3" dimension refers to a spent shell. An unfired shell will measure something less than 3". Not sure about a 20 gauge, but on a 12, it's about 2 1/2".

John,
And everyone else, I put a fresh spent 3" shell, went right in, easy to get out, must be a 3" chamber.
The other thing that I found out about my great uncle, is that due to a childhood injury he loved his role as a camp cook in the Sierra mountains, at a waterfowl hunting camp.
All those that have responded, let me get the history on this gun and I will get back to you. I would welcome the chance to meet and get some advice about this wonderful gun.
Thank all of you,
Bob Peters

You boys have fun up there in the UP, too far to drive to shoot clay birds a couple days. I'm limiting my long range drives for clay shooting to the Southern (maybe the Vintagers) and that's it.
I'm trying to get the money together for another Argentina raid, the $300-400 I'd spend going up there will be better reserved for shooting real birds. Them little black disks are fine for a warm up but I can shoot all I want of them 10 or 20 minutes from my apartment.

Does anyone have an idea of how long it takes to get the research information back? I have no idea.
Thanks,
BP

The previous post should have been: How long does it take to get the research information back? It says, in the information when you request the letter, a month, is that correct?
The spent shell that I put in the chamber measures 2 15/16" of an inch. I would think that would mean these are 3" chambers, right?
When is the UP Michigan shoot? I would like to meet some of you gentlemen.
Thanks,
BP

The definitive history of The Charles A. Parker Company and its gun manufactory Parker Bros Makers is in The Parker Story by Price, Mullins, et. al. Two volumes, about 1000 pages, plenty of illustrations. TPS is a must for anybody with a serious interest in the Parker gun.Last edited on Thu Jan 1st, 2009 11:03 pm by Bruce Day

I want to thank you for your assistance.
I appreciate your graciousness when I crudely misdirected my request to you without introduction or adieu. It was my first attempt at using the site.
With apologies and appreciation.

Hello George, I am a member of Woodcock Minnesota. Maybe some day I'll get lucky and get back east to hunt. I think you will enjoy TPS, its expensive, but quite astounding in its coverage, and borrow one and look it over first. If you are into Parkers, its a must have.
Best,
Bruce

Bob the U.P. shoot is over fathers day weekend. It's usually advertised in Shooting Sportsman and Double Gun Journal.

Thank you for all of the responses as well as the advice that has been offered!
A few more questions:
I saw in a previous forum some discussion about Huey gun cases, are these the best are there other options, What do you all recommend? The gun I have came wrapped in some old rags, however, carefully tied with butchers twine. I think I should get something better.
Second, any 1st choices for a suitable gun smith in the western michigan area, for a general health check up for this gun.
Lastly, I have looked and looked and can find nothing on the " Duck Guns", Widgeon club guns. Any help as to where to start.
( Jeff K., I may take you up on your offer and drive down to V. ID. This is a very busy time for me, If it looks as if I have a spot where I can get away I will send you a PM and see if we can make it work. Thanks for the offer!)
Thanks to all,
BP

The Huey cases are custom fit and cost more than most Parkers. The best cases I've bought came from Jeff's Outfitters. See their website. I like the compact toe-under cases best. They also generally offer a good price on a canvas/leather case with accessories. I have a VH20 in one and like it.

Bob; I agree with Richard ,Jeffs Outfitter has really nice cases and they are priced right, and Jeff is a great guy to deal with, As far as the Widgeon Duck Club Guns ,they are listed by serial #'s in the Parker Story Pages 677 ,They list 8 guns total they are all DHE grades, 20Ga. guns w/ 3 " chambers, W/ 32" barrel legnth except one, BHE serial #159077, also with 20 Ga. 3 " chambers and 32" barrels. I am in Pa. so I can't help with the gunsmith but I am sure some one else will. Russ

Thanks, Russ, Richard,
How many 20 ga's with 3" chambers were made, this one for sure has 30"'s chamber to tip. So all the Duck guns had 32"s'
Thanks, I will check into the cases, I'm sure that I can do better than what it came in. What abou silicon sleeves for protection?
Let me know,
Thanks,
BP
