Any ideas on what the repoduction is valued at? The full size ones not EDM's. I came by one years ago.

The Repros are hard to find, but were selling for over $100.00 ten years ago.  I haven't seen one for awhile, would like to buy one.

Bill, I think it was "Ward's" auction house, but not certain, old age is taking it's toll on my memory...;)

The 29 P-calendar is nice, but for a few thousand less$, I'd rather have this one hanging on the wall.

The last original Sharkey I heard about was right at $5,000.  That was the poster, not the calendar.

EDM is at my place and he asked me to clarify about his reprint squirrel posters. They are still available for $20 post paid. I have one framed in my gun room. and the image is 9 3/4 by 13 1/4, which is smaller than the rather large originals, and the 1950s full size reprints.  Ed says that Bert Sharkey's daughter bought one because she doesn't have an original.  Ed should be back home in a few days. His Old Reliable Publishing is at Box 4, Davis IL 61019

Kevin,

The repros have a coffee spot below and to the right of the squirrel eating the nut.

The spot was on the original that was copied. I believe there was a tear or a wrinkle that was copied, but I don't recall where.

Over a hundred bucks ten or fifteen years ago.  Lately, there aren't enough sales to go on.  I would estimate $175 in mint condition.  I don't have one but want one.  I don't think they are from the fifties but I don't know exactly when they were marketed.

I've seen them at gun shows for over $200. The last couple I saw were at an Ohio Gun collectors show in Wilmington.

An earlier thread discussing these Sharkey reprints mentioned the reprinter's name or company.  I always thought it was one of the Sid Latham series, but apparently it is not.

Bill,

Why do you want the reprint when you've got an original? *wink*

Destry, I have one of the more complete Parker Reprint collections.  I need an early Sharkey reprint, Ed's Sharkey reprint, and a gold cover pine cone and I will be getting close to having everything that has been reprinted until this latest flurry of ebay crapola.  The gold color pine cones are coming out of the woodwork lately, some sellers swearing they are the real deal.  One just sold on ebay for about thirty bucks plus shipping.

Well the EDM reprint is easy enough to get, you just gotta call that certain number in Durand, IL.

Better wait a few days though, I think they're in Turks & Caicos right at the moment. Left yesterday if my last report from them was correct.

But they'll be back in time for the Super Duper Yoooper Shooting Match and Walleye Cookoff towards the middle of the month.

This thread has not been to the top since 2007.  It is worth a read considering the recent conversations about Parker paper.  Does anyone have any recent sale information on Clown Catalogs, original Sharkey posters. or Wood Duck Posters?  How about 1937 Remington Salesman's Portfolios?

I have an original "Dealer's Price List" dated February 16, 1940 put out by Remington for THE PARKER GUN "The Old Reliable" showing all grades available at that time (Retail of an A-1 Special with double triggers was $890.00). This together with a typed list showing an increase in the U.S. Excise Tax from 10% to 11%. Is this a fairly rare item & what would be the approximate value?

It came in a copy of Larry L. Baer's book "The Parker Gun an immortal American Classic Volume II" copywright c. 1976. Does anyone know wher I couls find a copy of Volume I. I have the later reprint with both volumes in one book but I would just like to have a Volume I to go with it.

Best Regards, George

George, the price list has been reproduced, so yours is either real or not.  You can buy Baer's Volume 1 on Amazon today for $40 or $50.

Bill: I've had this one for about thirty years & I'm pretty confident that it's original. Thanks for the tip on Amazon.

Best Regards, George
