Dave, I thought that guy looked familiar, is this image "exactly" like the one you got from me, or is
it perhaps a little different? --- Let me know...

Joe, is yours an original, and what is the overall size?

Thanks, Chris

Joe, looks like a very successful hunt. That must be some tuff ground you hunt judging by the duct tape on your dogs feet. Larry

Larry, we have a lot of grass burrs along the Brazos River--and all sorts of other sticky things.  Actually, these two Brittanies are not mine.  The male on the left has feet tough as nails but the female is mostly a house dog and has pretty soft pads.

Chris, I do not recall exactly where I found the picture except it was on the internet.  I just saved it and later had it printed 5X7.

Guys,

Take another look at the stock of the Parker in the turkey and the shooting over decoys photos. Has that butt been extended?

I think that one of the lad standin' next to the tree in the leggin's is none other than ol' Roger Coger hisself when he was just a sprout an' ol' Clunk didn't need the finely elevated comb yet. Sure bears a strikin' resemblance anyways. ;)

Weston, the butt looks to me as though it has one of those old leather lace up pads on it.

Dave,

Sounds like Joe Wood "swiped" the image from my net-page just before you purchased the original, and then later (as he mentioned) made a 5x7 repo for himself...

Sure was nice of Joe to show up here offering his "Swiped" full file image of "Your" photo to everyone that wants to make a reproduction copy...

Good to know you still have the "Original" Dave...

KBM,

That railbird mount is spectacular. He looks like he's gonna walk right out of the picture. Thanks for the photo.

From the book "100 Years of Hunting, The Ultimate Tribute to Our Hunting Heritage" (Voyageur Press) I found this photo, coincidentally just as your picture was posted.  This one is identified as "Dr Frank Cheatham Wilson and his dogs, circa 1900."  (Courtesy Georgia Historical Society).  Look at the leggings, the hat and the set of the jaw, and this seems to be a younger version of the same gentleman.  In this picture he is holding a VH Parker under his right arm.  The gun is very indistinct and its' butt is hidden behind the Spaniel.

The retouch made the picture clearer but I have one question about the "missing" barrels.

They look like they are hidden in a cloud of black powder smoke not hidden by damage to the picture.

If it is smoke, I like the picture better with the barrels "hidden".

Bill, Google Dr. Wilson's name and read the link to the Forest City Gun Club. You may be on to something. Paul

Paul and Bill, thanks for the information on Wilson and the link to the Forest City Gun Club.  The information included on the link is quite outdated since it refers to the first World Skeet Shoot (NSSA American Skeet) being held there ten years ago.  Actually, the last  NSSA World  American Skeet shoot held at  Forest City was in 1992.  All American Skeet World Shoots have been held at San Antonio since 1993.  I don't know when the "first" one was held at Forest City without researching, but it was way more than ten years ago.  To get back to Wilson and his Parkers, in 1992, the last time I shot at Forest City, there was an historic showcase in the foyer of the clubhouse, full of old pictures, artifacts, etc.  Among them was a (probably BH grade) 12 gauge Parker in original unrestored condition that I would guess was Dr. Wilson's gun.  I don't know that for sure, but the gun was connected to an early mover and shaker with the Forest City Club.  Can someone run over there and read the description and provenance for us?  Thanks.  By the way, I had every intention, every time I shot at FCGC, to ask one of the officers to unlock the cabinet and let me examine the gun.  The Parker records had not yet been opened, so there was no reason to worry about the serial number, but I was curious about the grade of the gun which appeared to be an average B or less than average A.  Unfortunately, I never got into the cabinet.  Now we would like to research the serial number to see if it can be traced back to its owner in the Parker Brothers order books.   By the way, in recent years, FCGC has been split in two parts by a miserable excuse for a highway and the members, powerful as they may be, could do nothing about it.  A sign of the times in the shooting world.

Boy, they sure look to be the same person.  The way they carry their body, the chins, mouths, and eyes.  And I'm pretty sure the gun in the earlier photo is also a V.  What a fabulous coincidnece!

I'm sure that Dr. Wilson was an avid shooter and well known in the sport. My bet is that there are more than just these two pictures of him out there. He donated most of the land the club sits on and he is burried at the club's enterance.  Paul

I don't think so, The Hunter in Dave Suponski's photo is not the same guy...

When looking closely, the varying differences and distances between their facial features, nose,
ears, and mouth, become very obvious...
