Default New (To me) parker

I have just bought another parker. Its a 12 ga D grade with 30 in damaskus barrels. Sorry I dont have the frame size yet. Kind have bought it sight unseen.Should be heer in a couple of weeks. Question, the but plate was advertised as skeloton but when the owner (who I know well) discribed it over the phone he discribed it as solid with checkering. I am not a parker expert but I haven't seen a D grade with that type of but plate. what do you guys think.

Let's wait until you get the gun then you'll know for sure. Show us pictures if you have any doubts about it.

Sounds like he is either not describing it correctly, or it has something different on it. Would love to see pics when you get it.

Brian it soundes to me like the stock has been cut back and a new steel but plate was added. He says the lenth of pull is 13 1/2 so I wouldnt be surprised if it is cut back. I believe I bought the gun for a reasonable price so I am not real concerned about it. By the way thanks for the ten gauge parts in case I forgot.

No problem at all. At that LOP it was most likely shortened, but you never know. The gun could have been ordered with a short stock. A classic recoil pad would bring that LOP back out to a reasonable length.

What is the standard lenth of pull on modern shootguns now a days 14 3/8. my fox has a 15 in and it is probable a good 1 in to long for winter clothes. Im 5'8"in and I cant sholder it properly. Going by the only picture iv'e seen this gun has nice wood but needs the checkering chased and the stock refinished. May have to talk to you later about that. Cant wait to see this gun in person.

Wayne: It is my understanding that a checkered butt was an option provided by Parker Bros. on grades D (3) & higher. I have a DHE 20 gauge that I purchased in England that the research letter states was ordered with a checkered butt.

Best Regards, George

Around 14" LOP is considered standard. A bit shorter would be acceptable if used with thicker clothes.

Recieved my parker D grade today. It is not exactly a thing of bueaty. All finishes are pretty much gone. No color case left but engraveing is strong. Damascus barrels are all silver. I cant seem to seperate the Barrels fron the frame. any sugestionswould be appreciated. As for the checkerd but pad I am not sure if it is original,I will try to borrow my daughters camera and post pictures(if I can figure it out. Serial no 75117
