Shotgun Sports Article
As most of you know, I took over the research job for the PGCA back in May of this year. I mentioned this to a long time trapshooting friend of mine, Ed Clapper. Ed writes a monthly column for Shotgun Sports Magazine. The title of his column is AverageEd.
Ed originally asked me if he could do a write up on the records of the PGCA and how I research a Parker shotgun. I asked a few members of the BOD's for approval and they all thought it would be good publicity.
Ed came over to the house about a month ago, I showed him the records and how I put the research letter together. He took some notes and pictures. At that time, there was an A grade Parker hammer gun being sold by Griffin and Howe which was drawing a lot of interest on the forum and I thought this would be a good example to use for Ed's column. I contacted Griffin and Howe about the gun to get permission to use some of their pictures. By that time, the gun was sold. Bob Beach at G&H contacted the buyer and got his permission to use the gun in the column.
Ed wrote his column and before submitting it, allowed me to proof read it and correct any mistakes. When Ed submitted it to the publisher, the publisher thought it would be better to use it as a feature article instead of just Ed's monthly column, thus allowing more text and pictures. I sent Ed a couple of pictures of my Parkers in case the publisher wanted additional pictures.
I haven't seen the finished article so I don't know what it looks like.
From what Ed tells me, the article is scheduled to be published in the November issue. Also, the publisher has agreed that it can be copied for our Parker Pages.
