Default questions on 1901 VH 16

checking for a friend on a 1901 VH 16......I don't have the serial # at this time. I did enter it the # last week and found out it was made in 1901. All numbers do match, it has all the correct markings on frame and barrels. Some concerns are...... 1) there is no brass shield in stock. 2) no markings on forearm latch and it has a red rubber pachmayer recoil pad. The stock is a straight english, no pistol grip. It has an odd looking gun case also. I will post the serial # when I can. Any help or info would be apreciated. Thanks

Need pictures. Stock probably not original if no shield in the stock.

Thank you for the quick reply. I was afraid that the stock is not original. the barrels are stamped "overload approved". I read a post that stated the overload stamp was not used until the mid 1920's ?????? I will post some pics and serial # asap. My friend really feels he has a $6000 parker, I feel he may be deeply disappointed

A $6,000 VH 16 would be a rare gun indeed. It would have to be all original and be in 98% condition.

Yes.........sometimes a little information can be a bad thing. He received the Parker from a recently deceased Uncle's estate. He went on the internet, visited a few sites and...........well, he thinks he hit the lottery. I'm just trying to get him some accurate info.

The book lists #106735 as a grade-3, 10ga, with 32" Damascus barrels.

Are you sure you have the correct serial # ?
