Default peerless steel barrels

Hi I noticed on the website it says there were only 70 peerless steel barrels made. I am wondering if those barrels mentioned have serial numbers recoreded and are those more expensive ? or did they not work as well to only make 70. thanks Ken 186943

Kenneth - The Peerless Steel barrels were of the highest quality 'fluid steel' barrels ever supplied on only some of the highest quality guns Parker Bros. ever made.
Yes, due to the quality of guns that were supplied with them, they were most certainly some of the most expensive guns ever made at that time.
They performed 'peerlessly' and were highly coveted by the folks who could could only hope to afford to buy such a quality gun!

At least that was the sales pitch.

Right Brian. Parker Bros. had a special name for each of the barrel sets they put on each grade... some were different from the others but we suspect some were the the same but with a different name. we do know however, that the Sir Joseph Whitworth barrels were made in Great Britain and were serial numbered and recorded.

In all reality, the whitworth barrels were likely the best barrel steel they put on guns.
