Default Help Identifying Hammer Shotgun

Hello all!

I'm a new user to the site and have recently come into possession of an old hammer fire Parker shotgun passed down from my grandfather. I've combed through various documents and reference material both on this site and other sources, but I'm still having issues with identifying the grade and gauge of this shotgun. I've been able to determine based on the markings and serial number that it was produced in 1878, it is a laminated steel barrel, and I'm fairly sure it came from the Birmingham Proof House. This is all I've been able to determine, as according to the sites information lookup there are no written records available. Any information and any help would be much appreciated, as I am trying to put together a research document of sorts for my family.

Thank you!!
