Default DHE 12 ga with a BHE barrel

I just got my first Parker , a 12ga 2 barrel set. Both barrels are 28” long and both barrels are serial numbered to the frame. One barrel the D grade 28” is a mod/full and the B grade 28” a Mod/imp cyl.

Is this something where the factory would have used what was available to make a two barrel set of 28” barrels ? Or was this put together later ? I was told by the seller that this is the way it shipped when he ordered it.

Either way I’m super happy , the gun fits me just right and both barrels fit nice and tight.

The serial number looks doctored up on the one set. I would say it is a composed set. Not factory.

Thanks for the reply , I’m about to go get some clay pigeons at Walmart so I can take it out tomorrow. It should make quite the bird gun !

Yes, the way I understand it, Parker Reproduction BHEs were built as 2-bbl. sets. When they were initially sold some of these BHE sets the original buyers only wanted one set of barrels. The extra sets of BHE barrels were then added by Parker Reproductions to DHE frames. Nice, attractive figured wood on your gun! Does your M/F choked set of barrels have a number stamped into the forend lug?

I have a shooting friend that also had one these 12ga. DHE 2-bbl. sets with BHE barrels. His set was 26" IC/M and 28" M/F, SG, SPL, DT w/14 3/4" LOP, nice wood, too.

No only the BHE barrel is stamped with a 1, the DHE is bare. I just wanted a shooter , and this set was 4k which was a little on my high end of affordability but I liked the fact it came with 2 sets of barrels with all the choke options I could want. I wanted a 20 or 28 gauge with double triggers and still do but I might get an AyA #3 or #4 to scratch that itch once I save up again.

I think you misunderstood my question. I see the IC/M barrels have "1" stamped on the forend lug. What number (if any) is stamped on the forend lug on the M/F set?

Yes BHEs do have the engraved barrel wedges. Upon closer examination of the pics it appears one set has the wedges and the other set doesn't. Is that what you see?

It all makes sense now. The BHE IC/M barrel set was added post production and original sale. The original DHE gun and DHE M/F barrel set was furnished from the factory as a single barrel set. I had thought both barrel sets were BHE barrels.

Exactly , the m/f doesn’t have anything on the lug , the b series one has a number 1. I don’t know why someone would go through the hassle of getting the guns serial number engraved on it. Either way it’s a useful barrel , I really like ic/mod chokes.
