Test results on 16,12,and 10 ga.

I just received a bunch of reloading results back from Precision.I wanted to develope a 12 ga.1 1/8 oz. Hunting load for both 2 1/2 and 2 3/4 inch shells. Also wanted to try out some 16s with American Select,and a hunting load with 572.Had a 10 gauge load tested for target shooting with Cheddite hull and primer as they are readily available,and a 2 5/8 hunting load with bismuth for a lifter I have.I still want lower pressure as my lifter is an older one with the square cut frame.I might get another load tested with some Longshot.Load #7 is for a 16 ga,and is 7/8 oz. of lead.There is quite a bit of info here so be careful not to get things mixed up.I don't recommend any of these loads,they are for your reference only. Every load the shot and powder were weighed with an RCBS digital scale.Happy Reloading,Jeff

I just reloaded them on my tablet individually so can relist them here if anyone has trouble reading them.Dont need to make mistakes reloading.Jeff.

My oh my, Jeff; this 12ga. load you sent in to have tested yielded some of the lowest pressures I've seen. How does this load perform in your gun?

you sure have some fine loads in low pressure....that 12 ga load is just unreal....the 10 ga loads are really awesome to me....thanks for the info....charlie

Some of those loads are either very erratic or their chronograph is on the fritz.

We usually refer to them as "quality reloads".

Hello guys,been busy the past few days at a local gun show in Sioux Falls,S.D.There were about 1250 tables full of guns.I know most of you are quite far away to travel this far but quite a few nice doubles there of which a few followed me home..There were a couple of the loads I had tested I wondered about.Notice the question marks at top of page.I wanted to figure out a low pressure 1 1/8 oz load with a little zip but not 1450 fps as hodgdon site lists many with longshot,and lower pressure for older guns,so just started loading lighter and shooting them in a remington 1100 to see how they acted,by recoil and how they ejected.They still ejected and flew several feet from the gun,but the gas ports are halfway up the barrel,not at the chamber where testing pressure is checked.That longshot powder must just burn so slow and keep building or maintaining constant pressure for the length of the barrel.I did contact Precision a week after I dropped of the test loads to see if they were done and they told me their chronograph was on the fritz and they had to send it off for repair.I don't think any of these loads were tested prior to getting it fixed though.Maybe a couple of them should be retested,and maybe the powder bumped up a little and tested at same time? I talked to Tom Armbrust today and will probably load a couple 2 5/8 ten gauge loads to have him test.He was going to try to join me at this gun show but couldn't get away.If I send him some loads I'll load a couple more with longshot and see how they turn out.On all the loads,I used very little wad pressure,and quite shallow crimp,except for the 2 5/8 ten gauge load I had to use considerable wad pressure and deeper crimp to get the crimp to keep from coming back open.Jeff
