Default Parker assisted opening feature?

I have a DHE 12 ga., which presents a unique feature. The ejectors are compressed beyond the sear engagement, so that when you open the gun the ejector spring provide enough force to move the gun open. Either if it was discharged or not. This is a result of the ejector rods being a bit longer than normal. It is a later gun, 220,000 SN range and was back in for service on two occasions.
Is this a Parker option, or perhaps something Remington did later on or a mistake. I find it hard to believe it would be a mistake, as it is too obvious in operating the gun.
