Default Buying an undocumented Parker

Would like to get opinions about buying a Parker that is not listed in the serialization book and there are no records available to get a research letter. Is this an uncommon situation? Thanks for your opinions on this matter.

It's not especially uncommon but if you're not sure about it post pictures here asking about originality.

For decades, collectors bought undocumented Parkers, relying on experience they gained from looking at Parkers, good and bad. They bought the good ones and passed on the bad ones. We are still buying undocumented Parkers, using experience to avoid mistakes. The serialization book and PGCA letters do not eliminate expensive mistakes.

It is not uncommon. What do you find suspicious about it?

While some of the providence can be very cool, the gun still has to stand on it's own at the end of the day.
