Accolades to Art Wheaton
I will be the first to admit that I am an incurable romantic.... nobody can argue this statement. There are others whom I would put in the same category - even guys in this fine organization, and you know who you are.
But none of us can even hold a candle to our own Art Wheaton. I say this now, rather than at some time before now, only after having read his most recent piece in the current issue of Ruffed Grouse Society magazine, entitled "Do You Remember, Old Pal?"
This story of Art's should be required reading for anyone who is a beginner or an old hand at upland shooting, wildfowl shooting or any kind of shooting in fact, that brings men or boys of a like mind to the field together.
Personally Art, I've read an awful lot of your tales and stories and I've liked them all but, Art - this is your finest piece of writing, bar none. It truly choked me up and dampened my eyes. As we continue to get out there, to tread those old tote roads, to revisit our favorite old covers - remembering other days, other times we've shared with best friends and dogs long-gone - knowing we have many more days behind us than before us - now is the time to reflect on those "best times" and Art, in "Do You Remember, Old Pal?" you show us how. Thanks Art.
