Default Homer Clark Jr.'s Parker

Just came across an old photo from the late 50's of Homer Clark Jr., the well known trap shooter and president of Alcan, and he was holding a Parker with a beavertail and the caption mentioned that he had just won the doubles shoot off. I just wonder what he had for Parkers as he could have had anything he wanted.I thought Bill Murphy might have some info on this.

Homer was one great shooter, especially at the flyers, but I have never heard of a Parker that was represented to be his. I think he was on the World Record doubles squad with Cap Grier in 1938. That squad shot all Winchesters, mostly 21s. I own Cap Grier's great Model 21 but don't know who owns Homer Clark's 21s. I would like to know where I could see the picture of Homer with the Parker.

I saw the photo in an album at the home of an aquaintances relative. He worked for Federal Cartridge and was quite a shooter. I don't think I can get a copy but will try. I am surprised at the number of older men of means that do not own a computer and couldn't care less.

Talk about being late to the dance. I just saw this and thought I would comment.

In the fifties Clark was a pro for Ithaca, so for singles he would have used the house brand. In his case I think it was a 4E, but don't hold me to it.

Ithaca did not have a doubles gun in production at the time, unless you count the M37 (I've tried it, it works), which might have given him a bit of wiggle room inasmuch as the Parker was out of production, but so too was the NID, and it was seen on the trap lines into the early sixties. In that regard, a Parker SxS would have been a rub.

I think it was common for photographers to ask a hotshot to pick up "that gun" for a opportune photo op. There are a lot of pictures of Joe Hiestand holding Winchesters of various sorts, when in fact he shot just about everything but.

Sorry my post about Homer Clark and his guns was posted on another site, but it didn't have much to do with Parkers. If this subject interests you, use Dave's link and read the shotgunworld.com posts about Homer Clark and others. I have some doubt that Clark ever shot Parker guns for pay, or shot them at all, but these posts and links make interesting reading. If anyone has any hard evidence that Homer shot Parkers, let us know.
