Default Dogs engraved on floor plates

On floor plates of some D,C,B grade Parkers Dogs are sometimes engraved not birds or big game as in the higher grades. Is it just me are do dogs seem appear more often on earlier guns ? Most of the times it seems be the whole dog on point not just the head of a dog. would love to see some pictures from the floor plates. Thanks to all.

There are a couple of threads in engraving forum about 3 dog guns. On the Ds they seem to occur 1900 and before.

Some three-dog guns.

Actually, the second picture is of a four-dog gun counting the one on the trigger guard bow.

Talking hammerless guns here...

On CH grades, I observe that Deer are most common on earlier guns and birds more common on later guns.

Dogs on the bottom of DH grade guns is pretty much limited to very early guns.
