OK - fess up... Have you guys got a webcam hidden in my office/house?? I mean, I get off the forum last night about 10:45 after straightening out some server issues and sending out some final PMs - and you snuck this in while I was off-line???

Seriously, my sincerest thanks.. I truly mean that.. But as well - I also mean this...

This is more than a BBS or a "forum". It's rather a "community" - and it's not my community, it is yours, both individually and collectively. The folks in your community are your friends, or your "new members ("neighbors)" and - sometimes - we chuckle together, chide each other, laugh, cry - and even exchange some hurt feelings..

So for that - please do not thank me? Thank each other, OK? While any technology can be offered up, it takes real people behind that technology to make it "personal" - or make it "home" - make it "yours". And you have done all that - not me..

My role is rather simpler - and straight forward...

If we are going to do something - it needs to be "best of breed". It means it is "done right", no excuses. You've earned that right - and have every right to expect nothing less...

You have made a commitment to make this community the single best Internet community on the Internet, and I think we've made huge strides to that goal. My commitment back to you is to continue to be sure I am responsive to the demands of your community and individually and more - moving the technology ahead - "just paving the roads in your town" so you can do what "you do" better...

And really - it's a point of pride for me, I guess?

And I guess - I'm not alone in that pride..??

Mark - thank you for posting that.. It's more appreciated than you might know, but I suspect you do know?

John
(BTW - if you DO have a spy cam back here - I'll be at my "other job" until this afternoon.. I'll wave as I leave this office to you, tho'... )

"BBS" is an older term (Bulletin Board System/Service). Back in the late 80's - there were BBSs' like FidoNet, XRX/Parc, etc (yea - I did those - 4K TRS over a 300 BAUD modem!! I was "rockin' ).. Those evolved into Multi-quote, single line BBS systems, like WebBBS in the mid/late 90's (which is when I programmed/hosted my first Internet BBS with)..

Forums are a more common term, or portal - as in this format (multitopic/multi-line) - but many still call them simply BBS...

Make sense???

John

Hmmm....you do a bit more than that Mr. Humble...errr....I mean John. smiles. This is an outstanding bbs aka forum. Community as you will. 'Happy' communities have standards and it's members must expect those standards. Most do that here. The few times our 'neighbors' have gotten out of line...or been critical of a new neighbor(smiles) there are those who reinterate the expectations of this forum. And you sir do that with grace and wisdom.
ANy person with the knowledge can run this bbs. But not like you do.

If you can't run with the big dogs....stay on the porch. You are the leader of the pack. (and is an excellent 'pack' you lead....)

John,I would like to mimick Mark's and others "Thank You". You are so right this is a "community" and as with any community it takes infastructure to make it work. You sir...are the fire, police and medical departments....

As is so true in life things get sometimes taken for granted.I myself am sumtimes guilty of this also. We get home or have a couple of free moments at the office and go to our site and "It Works!" This doesn,t happen by accident. It takes maintenance and infastructure.

I think Mark was spot on in his timely "Thank You"for all you do buddy....If there is ever anything I can do to help make this a little easier for ya just let me know.

Also I enjoy the few times a year that we get together to shoot and jaw a little.

Thanks John.

BTW I saw Scott and Bob this morning trap shooting over at MWSA. Scott was wondering if you were going to return the 20ga damascus d grade you borrowed any time soon.

Afterall when I say the title of the thread I figured you had returned somebody's gun.
