Default My W.W. Greener is Back. Before & After Pics

My W.W. Greener is back from Kirk Merrington's. I won this gun at an auction a few months ago. The whole gun was covered (wood and metal) in some kind of varnish and seem it was neglected in storage for quite some time, but it was not abused (other than a varnish coat and an added butt pad). I sent the gun to Kirk who inspected, stripped & cleaned the gun, cleaned up the metal, removed a small barrel dent, fixed a dent and reblued the trigger guard, and then sent the wood out for refinishing. The checkering was recut and new period correct butt plate with widow peek installed. I am thrilled with how the gun turned out. It looks awesome. The barrel bluing and the action case colors are original. The more I look at the gun, the more I am impressed but its quality and lines. I can't wait to shoot it. Below are some before and after pics. Enjoy - BillK.

Perfect job bringing life back into that gun. One would not think it would have cleaned up so well!

Thank you Brian. This was my first gun in which I decided to bite the bullet and have the wood refinished (in additions to a few other minor servicing things).
I did not expect it to look so great either, however, there were promising clues of the beautiful wood dark streaks under the coats of amateur varnish coats.

This exemplifies Kirk's work: Unparalleled! And another beautiful old Facile Princeps Greener brought back in grand style. The wood is wonderful. Properly colored, and properly refit. You are lucky indeed to have that much case left. Old W. W. would be proud of this one!
