Default Parker valuations - neglected gun

I may have an opportunity to barter for a Parker. I do not yet know the grade, year, etc. but I do know that its appearance is a bit rough. Surface rust, possibly light pitting here and there, brittle pad, poor finish. I have experience dealing with those kinds of issues.

Are inquiries about values permitted here? I am not yet a paid member, and I am not selling a gun, so I assume value questions are allowed.

Hello Bill,

Sorry I can't give you a opinion of valuation based on the information at hand. We would need to know more about the gun such as grade, gauge, configuration etc. with good pictures of it as well.

I will comment though that generally speaking a Parker in the condition you described could very easily become a money pit if you decide to bring it back to at least a shooter type condition. The kicker on this is if the gun is a higher grade, small bore "28ga .410" or has some unique features which could off set the rationale for the costs involved.

I would suggest you look at the gun. Get all of the pertinent information off it such as gauge, grade, serial number, barrel length & type, & a series of good pictures you can post here. With this information we may be able to help you out some.

Good Luck ! I hope you find a diamond in the rough.

Thank you. I centainly have experienced the money pit scenario and don't wish to again. A shooter would be my goal, as that's the level I can afford, but usually only if I can buy at rough condition and do the work myself to bring back to a usable state.

I will get more details and images to post, but I wanted to make sure it was OK to post about this before I actually did so.
