As always, my turkey load is twelve gauge with 1 1/8 oz. of #6 shot or ten gauge with 1 1/4 oz. of #6 shot. Seems to do the trick nicely out to thirty-five to forty yards with full choke barrels.

Thinking about going over to the dark side and using modern ammo. Of course, I have a Hosford wall thickness gauge now and will stick to over 30 thousands mwt.

I plan to use no 4 in one barrel and no 6 in the other. I have a 12 gauge PH with crazy full chokes I plan to use mostly

My single shot 10ga Flintlock likes 120gr 2ff blackpowder with 2 .135 card wads over powder, 2oz. #6 nickle plated shot with 2 overshot cards. With jug choked barrel load is good to 40 yards.

10 gauge hammer gun choked deadly and deadlier. Favorite load is 4 drams black powder and 1 5/8oz '#5 shot stuffed down a brass hull. Kills out to 60 yards.

Jim, that load sounds like a good one out to 40... what are your chokes?
