There is an older thread on this topic but I thought I would post this as a new update.
Thanks to Chris Dawe of Newfoundland Parker 82646 16 gauge GH on a 0 frame has been brought back from a bad straight grip stock conversion and about 9 barrel dents were raised! Chris is not only a gunsmith, stockmaker, craftsman and an honest man but I consider him a friend and would welcome him in my home or afield any time.
82646 is in the book as a hammerless, pistol grip, no extra w/26" barrels. It retains the original Damascus barrels choked Cyl./Mod, has 2 9/16 chambers and is stamped 3lb 2oz. Back in the day it was modified to a straight grip, the stock was cut to 12 7/8" with a pad and spacer making it 14". At some point a cool set of after market ejectors were added.
82646 is nothing particularly special but I was very happy to purchase it and now I am happy to show the gun sporting its "new used" butt stock and refinish.
The letter states the gun shipped 11/2/1896 to CW Hackett in St Pail Min. Special request for trigger pull as light as can and chokes Cyl./Mod. Price was $80 and it left at 6 lbs. 7 oz.
This gun is going to look good next to my dog and a few Hun's this fall.
