Default New member...What do I have here?

Hello from snowy upstate NY!

New to the forum and to Parker shotguns...hoping you folks can tell me more about what I have here. From what I gather on your home page it is:

Grade V (or VH), don't quite understand the difference...
Ser 129822 dates it at 1904?
Frame size 2?
BBL weight 4? (there's a 2 exponent next to the 4, not sure what that denotes)
Vulcan steel
30" barrels

Most of the blueing is gone on the barrels and receiver. Blueing remains on the rib. Action appears tight. Stock has some battle scars, a broken toe and butt plate. Screws are unmolested.

It is clearly not a safe queen, but hoping it is a shooter, not a wall hanger, and is it desireable at any level? Refinish or leave as is? Value range?

Thanks in advance for your replys...sorry for the lousy pics, great forum here!

Ron

Welcome from down state Ny still snowy though.
Sure it's desirable, looks liks a nice gun. I'm impressed that the screws are not all bugged up. You pretty muched described what you have not much info left. As long as it is reasonably tight , and just take a look at the bores and make sure there's no major craters I would shoot it.
Good luck with it, Tom

VH means V grade hammerless

barrel weight - 4 lbs 2 oz and 30" is what it wore leaving the factory

if the bores are good - the next concern is the stock

if there is no cracks in the head- there are repro buttplates available - you just need to patch the chip in the toe and shoot it and enjoy

a #2 frame and 4 pound barrels might combine to be a good clay or duck gun

which snow drift are you in upstate?
