try to have a good day out Charlie,

i am a bird hunter, i've gone out for deer with the flintlock, but its not a big draw for me

of my three kids, one daughter doesn't hunt. the other daughter hunts deer sometimes, my son is a die hard bow hunter.

I keep hoping one of the grandchildren will take to the uplands(they are very young yet), but between bird numbers and the competition for kid's time and attentions - not sure it will happen.

I have difficulty finding youngsters who have much interest in hunting these days. It seems like the vast majority of kids now have no interest in living what Teddy Roosevelt described as "the strenuous life", even if upland bird hunting isn't really all that strenuous. So many are addicted to on-line video gaming. I had my 15 year old nephew from Connecticut with me for most of the summer and no matter what shooting, four wheeling, hiking, fishing, etc., activity we were engaged in here in the middle of the Rocky Mountains, he just couldn't wait to get back to the house to log onto his video gaming site and play at it for hours. I was shocked to later learn how common that is amongst teenagers and young adults these days; they even have a name for the addiction and expensive specialized clinics to treat it. That video gaming thing is starting to feel like the scourge of the 21st century...oops, there I go again, starting to sound like my grandmother did back in the 80s.

I love video games as much as anybody, but it is a poor substitute for being in the great outdoors. Especially while carrying an Parker. I would agree that people, of all ages, get a little to obsessed with MMO video games.
