Default The 2nd Annual Fox vs. Parker Challenge Cup

Here ye, here ye, Oh Merry men of Meriden. This is your wake-up call (90 days and counting) for the 2nd Annual Fox vs. Parker Challenge Cup Shoot to be held at the Addieville East Farm shooting grounds on Saturday, Sept. 28th, 2013. Due in part that the PGCA annual meeting and banquet will be held that same weekend AND that "Old Reliable" will once again be represented under a separate tent AND that the weather will be 4 days of bright sunshine and cool temps., we are expecting a much greater turnout for this event than in 2012. For those of you who couldn't attend last year, please take a look at the pics below . The first of 19, yearly nameplates just returned from the engraver. As you will see, the coveted FPC Cup will be an extraordinary time capsule of our group's competitive activities. (Just think, in the year 2179 when one of our history preservation-minded great, great, great grand kids unearths this treasure from beneath the ruins, he can flip it at the corner pawn shop for three bills and buy his new iphone77!! )

Also, in an effort to promote fairness and to preserve the integrity of this venerable contest, a new rule will be imposed for 2013. In order to participate in the FPC Cup, all shooters must be current members (in good standing) of one or both organizations as of Aug 1st, 2013. In other words, the only "ringers" present that Saturday will be in your cell phone or on the victor's Cuban cigars!!

The BOD's of the AHFCA & PGCA are also planning a larger, après-shoot get-together on early Sat. evening for competitors/members of both groups. More news to follow on that front.

Last but certainly not least, in addition to ownership of the FPC Cup, all winning-team members will also receive an autographed pic of the

"Philly Fab-5" shown below, which is now second in sales only to the 2013 Fausti calendar. No doubt, this will be a treasured keepsake for years to come!!

Official rules for the shoot will be posted in the coming weeks on both sites. Make your plans now.....no excuses!

Any plans to change that engraving in 2013????

When Team Parker takes possession of the cup we will eagerly change the engraving. We have a number of exceptionally fine shooters who's reputations preceed their names and who's deeds are a matter of record. We need no 'ringers' on our team.
Good Luck Team Fox!

Steve,
Thanks for the post and the reminder of our shortcomings last year. It is our hope that the PGCA will have it's best shooters in attendance for this event and our organization will have it's name etched on this cup for 2013.

Our members have another reason to come out and shoot their best scores. Starting last year the PGCA with the help of Tom Carter and David Dwyer acquired a beautiful trophy of our own which will bear the name of the top Parker shooter at each years event. Last year it was Carl Calandra who bested the field. Given the number of great shooters this was no small feat and his name is now on the trophy for all time. Whose name will be next?

John,

BLUE ROCKS----Mapleville raised hard drivers!! The secret password ("Leader")allows FPC Cup shooters access to the far back lot at Addieville.
Ahhhhhh, don't I wish!!

Actually it's 50 birds Sporting, run as a concurrent to The American Classics Event on The VC menu.-----Roll

This makes me so glad that my shotgun shooting abilities are mediocre at best. If I were one of those hard guns, i.e. a "ringer" I would have a hard time deciding between one of my beloved Old Reliable's and an American pigeon gun, an AH Fox. Yup, you read that correctly for I believe Ansley Herman Fox being a very competitive pigeon and trap shooter in his day built guns that he would shoot in the ring. If only AH Fox guns would have included 10 gauges... Oh, that's right I do have a Super Fox or two or was that three?

To all my Parker friends, if you haven't practiced diversity by shooting and bringing home a Fox gun or two you are missing something special!

Thanks Larry and please understand that I did not mean to insinuate that the "shortcomings" of the inaugural contest were in any way a Meriden-only affair. Trust me, the malfeasance allegedly conducted in the "recruiting offices" was sadly, a bipartisan effort. As Directors we both know that kind of activity is counter productive to the goal of this grand event.-----Roll

Daryl,

As high as you score shooting tight, no make that strangler chokes, a Super Fox should yield for you perfect scores! I think that you not shooting a Super Fox is because as a gentleman, you don't want to show up the rest of us!
