Default Parker mechanics--what broke??

I was admiring one of my Parkers last evening and was swinging on an imaginary greenhead. When I pulled the trigger something internal broke. The safety will not operate ----- the top lever moves to the right but the gun will not open---actually it just very slightly opens. If I remove the forend the gun still won't open. I took it out to Turnbull's today for repair but I was curious what part broke----any ideas from the mechanical experts?? Thanks Craig

Craig, Sounds like the top lever shaft broke. But we will not know for sure until Turnbulls guys get it apart. I have seen this before albiet very rarely. Please report back after they open the gun up.

Toolman,
I was told years ago that it is hard to find a gunsmith that knows how to repair those Foxes ' cause they never break down.
BTW: 2 16 SW, 2 20 SW, a 12 pin gun, and a 16 A Grade Fox

I would guess the problem is with the unhooking slide not moving the cooking hook, I have had this happen before. that's my two cents I hope its nothing serious.

Paul: Thanks---after looking at the schematic of the Parker I believe you have it correct. Thanks Hopefully it's not to expensive a repair. Craig

What year was your Parker made Craig? It could be any number of things by the sound of it. Post 1912 guns had a much simpler top lever mechanism.
