Default Parker repro and winchester 201 frames

Hello, this is Bruce again. I was looking at a winchester model 201 on line and noticed that the frame is very simiular to the parker reproduction, in that the side screws, locking screws and the floorplate screws are near the same. Was the production of the model 201, by the same company as the parker reproduction? Could they have used the same base frame for both models? They appear very simular. Just curious, thanks BW.

Bruce,
I have a 201 in 20 gauge with a straight stock, this was my go to gun for game farm birds this year.
They were made by the same company as the repros it appears to be a hybrid with some Parker features some Winchester 23 features, and some of it's own. The frame lock up and top lever are Parker, however the frame appears longer and there is no Dolls Head rib extension.
There are lightning cuts on the Water table. There is also a joint check on the barrels and the cocking is different from the Parker. The vent rib is not like the one on the Winchester 23 it looks built in not applied. The forend latch is from the Model 23, and the ejectors look to be also from the 23. The trigger looks like a model 23 and the selector is built into the safety, it is automatic.
I love this gun and dub it "The poor man's Parker Repro!"
This thing POUNDS Pheasants!
Let me know if you need any other information.
Regards, Scott

Thanks scott for the info. I thought they were related maybe cousins. I was looking at a 201 and it was a dandy. beautiful wood, and bluing. I love my parker, but I love other doubles too. I guess I am addicted to shotguns. If I bought the 201 my wife would be pissed! Thanks BW.

Bruce,

I am happily married and have been for some time. I don't tell my wife what toys I buy. Of course I have private bank account and credit cards. Someone once said that a woman does not know one gun from the next, but they can count.

Morning Guys , I have been happily married myself for just short 35 years and that just picking up toys and tucking them away in the safe works once in a while ,but some toys you just can't hide . About twenty years ago my wife thought it was cute when I drug this old thing in on a trailer, and two pickup truck loads of parts but five years and $$$$$$$$$$$$$ later ,it just wasn't so cute any more and no where to hide it !

Russ,

That is my dream car, what a great toy. And in BRG too! Nice job! I had one just like it in 67 but when I was married in 70 it had to go; boy I wish I had that decision to do over.

Wow what a nice car! I have a great wife and great marriage. We have 3 kids in college, one in law school, and it costs a lot of money that I can not spend on shotguns. But I do my best with what I have. Someone emailed and asked where I saw the winchester 201. I think I saw it on dawsons doubles webpage. Thanks BW.

Thanks guys, I just thought I would throw the pics. out there for a little fun , I always get a kick out of when we get to talking about our toys ,how we smuggle them etc. the wives always sort of come up in the conversation ! Its a good thing most of them are good sports about all of these things ,as we can not seem to help ourselves ! I have one buddy when we discuss a new gun we have picked up ,he always seems to just recently won one at a gun bash !!!

Russ, there's a package from Tiffany's wrapped in a blue tarp that your wife has hidden in the basketball net until you leave for work in the morning . . . and we thought we were the sneaky ones
