Default Pad

I've used Galco pads with success. Two or three sizes. Nice looking.

It has been my experience that those Galco Leather Pads (I have X-Small, Small and Medium) can be pretty slick and don't always keep the butt where you want it in recoil from the first shot. The Pachmayr rubber slip-ons generally keep the butt where I want it. The slick leather pads may be better for a fast mount in Dean's Woodcock thicket!! Some of my old guns with original leather-faced pads have that same slipping issue.

I have two game keeper pads in different sizes. They tend to generally work for me but they are so darn thick and stiff. Any suggestion on making them soft and more supple?
