George, there was an attempt to put all the Parker Pages on a DVD and it was well underway when one of the authors to several Parker Pages articles pointed out that he held the Copyright to his article(s) and it was granted to the PGCA for use in Parker Pages and not a DVD. So, that ended the project.
At that time, most of us assumed that the PGCA owned the copyright to all the articles and didn't realize that two or three professional writers and photographers made their submission with restrictive copyright attached. This just goes to prove that "the decline of civilization and the theft of copyrighted material" isn't as far gone as you assume. If it were, we would have the Parker Pages DVD, but correctly, we don't. Parker Pages articles accepted since then do not have these restrictive copyright and that is why John has been able to make a few issues available to PGCA members on our members only web page. I am sure that if the holders of copyright for The Parker Story wanted to make an ebook and sell it in the apple store, or some other commercial ebook supplier, for their profit then it could be done. I too think it would be nice to have The Parker Story on my iPAD as I walk through a gun show or look over Parker's on for sale tables at a gun shoot. Maybe they will consider doing it someday? |

I only have one thing to say about all this! I would rather hold a book in my hand, at least I can read and enjoy when the internet is down! Books are like Parkers, made to use and hold!

Shooting Sportsman's e-mag drives me crazy, and although I bought the electronic version of the late Tony Treadwell's restoration book to not miss out on the information, I am still hoping that his wife can complete the hardcover publishing deal. as I said the current plan is to add a copy of the serial number book to the other stuff i keep in the truck having said all that , if the basic serial number search was availalble on the phone- i would use it. You won't find me wth an e-reader on a beach, but you could find me on the phone with my hand on a Parker in a rack.
