800X is my low pressure 1 1/8oz load for 12 gauge. As I recall I slow down my loading just a tad because of the flake powder.

Harold, You use 20/28 in the black Remington games load hulls? How many grains do you use? Also do you know the PSI you are pushing?

Dave, I load the RGL hulls Also. This is the recipe I use for a tested load. Win. 209 primer, DR16 wad, 7/8oz. shot and 15.5gr. of 20/28 powder, 6 fold crimp. Makes 1105 FPS at 5760PSI.
Hope that helps, Harold's recipe may be different, This came from the 16ga. forum and is a tested recipe. |

Nope, that is exactly the load I use in the RGL's. Works great, and it is my grouse/woodcock load also.
RGL/ w209/ DR16/ 20/28 15.5 gr 1105fps and under 6000psi

OP;
Drop 1/8oz. and load 3/4oz. with 15.5gr. 20/28 with the DR16 wad and you'll get up to 1145fps in the RGL hull. You'll love it.

You certainly cant argue with Daryl"s ability to crush targets with that load. I think that if I mixed up a bunch of 3/4 and 7/8 oz loads, I couldn't tell the difference, I'm going to seriously try the 3/4 load next time I load.

Daryl, Do you use an over shot card to help the crimp with the 3/4 oz. load?

No overshot card or breakfast cereal. Use the DR16 wad in the RGL hull and you'll get perfect crimps. 20/28 powder is a fairly dense powder and fills the hull nicely. I, unlike Harold, can feel the difference between 3/4 and 7/8oz. loads. The 7/8oz. load is not uncomfortable but the 3/4oz. is so pleasant to shoot and breaks targets as well as the 7/8oz. load plus I'm saving money. A win-win the way I look at it.
