Not in the book, might try a PGCA Letter...

I would search for providence, first.
Who was the trap shooter? etc. Might be someone famous, who knows?
More likely just another ding-a-ling trapshooter trying to improve his score, by butchering up a good gun.

OUCH!!!

While there may be a shred of truth in what you wrote - it still hurts to read it..

With tongue firmly in cheek, I would check in Rhode Island for Providence. Sorry all, I couldn't help myself.

There are no records on the gun at all in the PGCA database. Would be hard to search for any history from the beginning. Maybe it could be done going backward.

Brian is right. Without PGCA records, it's up to you to inquire of the last owner how he acquired the gun. Are there any initials on the gun? Are there any names in the memory of previous owners?

Hey, fellow former ding-a-ling trapshooter, myself.
BTW, I have a highly modified G Grade pigeon gun that was owned by an old pigeon shooter from Missouri. It's just part of the gun's history now, and I won't part with it. (kicked some butt on pigeons with it) Some here would recoil in horror at the sight!

Hi Todd.!

Yep isn't that "just the way"?? Anyway - I remember my Great-Grand-dad and his gun cabinet. His single barrel trap gun had black tape over the handle - and he used shellac to "glue on a cheek piece.. He shot 100/100 with that in the Mass State Championships in the '20s for several years. My Grandfather - picked up that same habit of modifying his "trap gun" - and I still have that one - leather cheekpiece, shellac and all.. Neither of those are Parkers - but they are wonderful...

Anyway - yep - it's about the history...

So - from one "ding-a-ling" trap shooter to another???

My thanks....!

John

Oddly, I have a few trap and pigeon guns that show very little in the way of modifications, some are absolutely as they came from the factory. I have no idea how that happened.

Check with Bob Beach at Griffin & Howe for possible provenance on the gun.
