Bruce what do you want to do with the gun? Are you looking for simply a decent looking shooter or are you going for a total restoration which will cost more than the gun is worth? The cracked butt plate can be replaced with another plate or recoil pad if you like, the barrels can look much better by scrubbing them with a piece of 0000 steel wool or a Big 45 Frontier Metal Cleaner pad from BIG45METALCLEANER.com, both wet with oil. It will make the outside much nicer. The wood might clean up really nice without refinishing and if, as Dean points out, the pits aren't unsafe it would be a nice inexpensive shooter. The safety could simply need some oil or maybe there is a broken piece in there that needs to be repaired. Give some thought to what your end product will be and maybe go from there.
