i think mark is correct, i have also seen this type of support on german or prussian guns the fit looks first class. if it was done by parker i have never seen it before, maybe on special request? perhaps bruce day will know.

If it was done by Parker Bros. it would have only been done by special request as this feature is certainly not standard on any guage or grade.

strange to pin it before it cracked, but i don't have to worry about it cracking now

That's exactly the point Scott - I think I remember a request that a Parker (or more than one) be pinned or fixated when new.
