Default repair

Looks like a great job, Dave is known for such work! About two years ago I met someone at a gun show walking a high grade Fox around which had a butt extension added by a very well known smith. He said when he got it back it looked great but after a couple of months the joint could be felt as humidity apparently changed things and so decided to sell it. What is applied between the sanded repair and the final finish to keep the wood from any surface changes in height due to humidity? Tom.
