Well lemme tell you, that little road trip sucked the steam right out of my boiler.
Dave, The B is the one we talked about at Safari. It was very carelessly cared for over the years and there's alot of scratching on the floor plate. Interestingly, it has no birds, but a pair of setters on one side and a pair of pointers on the other side. There's a pair of elk on the floor plate, but the scratches somewhat detract from the engraving. I traded even up on an H&H bolt gun I was tired of looking at, so no harm. It's a 1 1/2 frame with 28" tubes, and has a lovely gold PG cap. It would be interesting to letter it to see if the name is the original owner.
The 16 is a DHE on a 1 frame with 30" barrels and came from John Frierson, the author of Memories Of Carolina Bird Hunter. He's pictured in the book, holding the gun. It still has some color and apart from the sling swivels, is all original. It was originally on GB a while back. It's Rubber recoil pad has seen better days, but then, so have I.
Russ, I'll try and get some pics of them in the next day or so.
