yesterday we finally got the crow hunt going...started at about 1 pm first thing i done was to forget my owl decoy that i had bought for this hunt..one thing for sure a owl decoy lefy at home will not help the crow hunt...makes me mad i cant remember so good no more but heh we went ahead and started calling wasnot long we had about 50 crows coming in...russ you d be proud i dropped a double with the first 2 shots...with the little 20 ga....we were hunting on a old cattle farm andboy did the crows come in...it wasnot long though we began to educate them crows thed come back after we would shoot but they would be a mile high...we would shut the caller off for about 10 minutes then turn it on it would bring them back but we would only get a crow or 2 then have to start all over...well we killed 14 at that spot then moved to another location but for some reason they would come in but flare away like they were seeing something they didnot like...we moved again but only picked up 2 more crows...went back to the first stop but never heard a crow...it was about 4 pm then we figured they must have gone to roost... i done see ive got a lot to learn hunting crows with one of these electonic callers...ive always called with my mouth or an old mouth crow call..i guess it was kinda like get a shot here and move on up the road and try again...with the electric call its a lot better and will bring in more crows...i hate to disapoint every body but i used the little 20 all the way through left the ten in the truck...but will say this if i had of used the old ten i believe the tally would have been lots higher... went deer hunting today was invited to go hunt a private club lots of deer sighn and hogs....was only in the woods 15 minutes and afair size 6 point came by...for some reason i could not get that deer in my scope and it was just walking slowly... it came to within 30 feet of me i shot it ... it went down but got up took off some where...we tracked this der from 800 am till 10 30 am and never got himit would bleed a lot a times then there would just be a few drops for a while....went and got a track dog but it never done any good with the track...that deer could not have had much blood left it amazes me at the strenth they have....well im nunting at home tommorrow see yall.... charlie
